Moran gets the nod for Royal clash

image preview

There was only one real surprise when John O'Mahony announced his starting line up for this Sunday's clash with Meath in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Croke Park. Castlebar's Barry Moran, who was expected to miss the game with a broken bone in his hand, was named at full forward. Moran, who picked up the injury in training last week, was expected to be sidelined by the hand problem for a number of weeks. But in a similar turn of events to what happened when Ronan McGarrity suffered a facial injury in a club championship match in the lead up to the Connacht final, he seems to have healed quickly enough to be given the nod.

Ballina pipped at the post

Loftus Recycling : 71

Enda’s visit to the Midlands doesn’t really get us any further

It’s always great to see a political party leader coming to the county. Kinda makes us feel remembered, and important. Briano’s visits don’t really count, seeing as he lives over the road!

On Saturday, Loftus Recycling are at home again, in the National League, when they host Maree, Oranmore, in repeat of the epic Cup battle between the sides in the Cup quarter final, tip off is down for 7.30pm and it is sure to be a hard fought encounter between the two Connacht sides. In the National Cup, Loftus Recycling will have to travel to Cork on the weekend of January 16/17 for their semifinal. Standing in their way of a cup final appearance is UCC Demons. The cup semifinals for both the Super League and the senior men’s cup are being brought back to Cork this year to celebrate 25 years of the Neptune Stadium. The old hall has seen many a great night down through the years and this year’s semifinals will surely bring back some of those memories.
